Hi, I’m Bree (far left in the picture) and I’m the creator of Brisbane Golf Girls.
I tried to get into golf years ago, but it felt like such a huge leap going from beginner group clinics to playing on an actual golf course. I didn’t know other women who played, and without the confidence or tools to make that leap, it just never happened.
Fast forward a few years (and two babies) later, and I made the commitment to get into golf for good. I joined a local Facebook group and put some feelers out to see if there were any other women who would be keen to meet up for a social round, and those 3 gals in the photo said yes.
So on 22nd September 2024, we nervously said hello to each other outside the Wantima pro shop and proceeded to play a very average 18-hole ambrose. We had so much fun, got some great shots in and hyped each other up along the way - it was everything I could have hoped for and more!
I realised that we can’t be the only ladies in the same position, wanting to play golf but not really having the connections or confidence to get out there and make the leap in such a male-dominated and often intimidating environment.
So from there, Brisbane Golf Girls came to life, and 18 months later we have over 500 women in the Facebook group.
There are monthly events at courses all over Brisbane as well as a yearly golf trip away. Purely fun, social rounds of golf - no handicap needed and all levels and ages are welcome. So if you’d love to join the community, sign up below!
